This week’s Hawk of the Week is Ms. Mia Commins, our dedicated Reading Intervention teacher! Ms. Commins was nominated by her peers for her outstanding teamwork, warmth, and unwavering support of both students and staff. Her classroom is a haven of positivity and encouragement, where students feel welcomed and inspired to grow their reading skills.
Ms. Commins goes above and beyond by stepping in wherever she’s needed—whether it’s helping with task management, addressing classroom needs, or sharing her expertise in reading strategies. She’s a true team player, regularly dropping into other classes and offering creative ideas to support our ELA teachers. Thank you, Ms. Commins, for your generosity, collaboration, and commitment to our school community. You make Gavilan View Middle School a better place every day!

Native American Heritage Month
|
November is Native American Heritage Month, a time for us to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American communities across our country. This month, we’ll be learning more about the traditions, resilience, and stories of Native American people, past and present.
Take a moment to appreciate the diversity around us and think about how each culture adds something special to our world. Let’s be curious, respectful, and open to learning together this month!
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let's be mindful of Native American perspectives toward this holiday. Here's a great resource to review as a family.
