Hello 8th grade families,

We are 13 days away from our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony and we want to share important information about the ceremony. Make sure you buy your tickets this week before we open up unsold tickets starting on Monday, May 19th. 

Promotion Dance:
Tickets for the 8th grade Promotion Dance are on sale in the front office. Must have a permission slip signed at the time of purchase.

• Cost: Tickets are $15

• Theme: A Night in Paris

• Dress Code: A formal dress code applies. 

• Eligibility: Student must have good grades (no Fs or more than 1 D), attendance, and behavior.

• If you're able to donate to the dance, contact Ms. Timmons at stimmons@santaritaschools.org. They could use support with donations for WingStop.

Promotion Rehearsal:
We are taking all 8th grade students to practice on Wednesday, May 28th during school hours. 

• Permission slips went home today. Please make sure they return them signed as soon as possible.

• If your child does not attend the rehearsal, they cannot participate in the ceremony.

• Rehearsal has to be taken seriously or the student will be pulled from the ceremony.

Promotion Ceremony Details: 
Wednesday, May 28, 2024 at 7:00pm
 Sherwood Hall - 940 N. Main St. Salinas, CA 93906

• Students must arrive at 5:30pm

• Doors open at 6:00pm

• Doors close promptly at 7:00pm at the start of the ceremony

• At the end of the ceremony, parents must stay in their respective seats while students exit and then meet students outside of the Hall.

Promotion Tickets: 

• Every person needs a ticket, including children/infants.

• Tickets are now for sale. Tickets are $5 each and we only accept cash.

  • Every student receives 2 free tickets.

  • Every student is able to purchase up to 10 additional tickets.

  • On Monday, May 19th, we will open up any unsold tickets for additional purchase. These will be sold on a first come, first sold basis.

• Tickets will NOT be sold at the door.

• Handicap access will be available for the individual person and 1 accompanying person

• You MUST inform us of handicap needs at the time of the ticket purchase. 

 Promotion Gowns: 

• Gowns are on sale and will be on sale through the day before promotion. 

• $30 per gown, we only accept cash.

• Purchased gowns and the 2 free promotion tickets are available for pick up in the front office. Students can pick them up or parents can between 7:30am and 3:30pm daily. 

Items not permitted in the Hall: 
Any form of the following is not allowed:

• No balloons   

• No flowers

• No signs/posters

• No noisemakers 

• No strollers 

Student Dress Code: 
Students must wear their gown  

• Only one lei per student                     

• No super high heels    

• No cell phones (phones must be given to parents/families to hold)
