Dear Gavilan View Community,

Home of the Hawks!

admin

Such a fun 3rd Week of School!

What a fantastic week we had getting back into the swing of things! We loved seeing so many of you at Back to School Night, where we had a great time connecting and sharing the excitement for the new year. It was a week packed with fun, from our scavenger hunts to capturing great smiles on Picture Day.

In the classrooms, our students are already diving into engaging lessons. They're working in science labs, exploring with social studies maps, and sharpening their skills with math manipulatives and English writing assignments.

A huge thank you to all the families who came to our Wednesday event. We especially loved seeing all the sweet and positive messages you left for your students on our family poster.

Looking ahead, we're excited for a fun-filled WOW Week with spirit days and new lunch activities. We'll also be focusing on student safety with a bus evacuation drill and kicking off the 7th and 8th grade girls' volleyball tryouts.

We hope everyone has a great week!

Warmly,
Mrs. Antuna, Principal
Ms. Coronel, Assistant Principal

Student Behavior on Van Buren Ave.

Community members have reported a rise in student misconduct after school, including ringing doorbells, trespassing, damaging property, and littering on their way home.

These behaviors are disruptive and disrespectful to our neighbors. Please talk with your student(s) about the importance of being responsible and respectful in our community. These actions can result in both legal and school consequences.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us reinforce positive behavior.

Hawk of the Week

Stellar Staff Member

Manyere

Corey Manyere

This week, we're excited to recognize Corey Manyere as our Hawk of the Week! A new addition to the Gavilan View family, Corey has been an absolute trooper while navigating the world of middle school. Coming from an elementary school background, he's taking on the challenge of learning all the ins and outs of our campus and curriculum, all while splitting his time between Gavilan View and John Gutierrez. Corey has shown incredible dedication and a fantastic attitude as he masters the complexities of his new role.

Corey's commitment is truly commendable. Not only is he adapting to two new school environments, but he's also managing a full caseload of students at both locations with remarkable grace and resilience. His ability to handle the demands of two campuses, new policies, and a different grade level is a testament to his hard work and dedication to our students. Thank you, Corey, for all you do! We're so lucky to have you as part of our team.
