Dear Gavilan View Community,
|
Our annual beach trip was a huge success, and it was so wonderful to see our students enjoying a well-deserved day of fun in the sun. The staff vs. students Monster Volleyball game was another highlight—a huge congratulations to our students for their incredible teamwork despite the staff pulling off a win! The energy was amazing.
This past week, we also began our first i-Ready diagnostic of the year in reading and math. This is a critical tool that helps us understand exactly what our students need to grow academically. We're so proud of how focused and hard-working our students were.
Looking ahead to the upcoming week, we have a lot in store! We will continue our i-Ready diagnostic, and we'll hold our first School Site Council and Cafecito Meeting on Wednesday. We also kick off our annual Popcorn School fundraiser, a key effort that helps support our school activities.
Additionally, Progress Reports will be mailed home by the end of the week. Finally, recruitment for our Saturday Academy is now open. This is an incredible opportunity for students to get extra support and enrichment. We'd love to see a big GVMS turnout, so please consider signing your student up.
Let's carry this positive energy into the new week. Remember, every day is a chance to learn, grow, and make a difference. Let's make this next week a great one!
Warmly,
Mrs. Antuna, Principal
Ms. Coronel, Assistant Principal

These students have shown incredible kindness, compassion, and support for their classmates.
Our August Students of the Month:
- 6th Grade: Genesis Gonzalez
- 7th Grade: Kevin Ramirez-Archila
- 8th Grade: Sol Bravo-Perez
Thank you, Genesis, Kevin, and Sol, for being such wonderful examples and for making our school a kinder, more welcoming place for everyone. We appreciate you!

September 2 - September 18
This week, students will continue their iReady diagnostic in reading and math. Students did an incredible job last week, and we're so proud of your hard work and focus.
Remember, this isn't a test for a grade. It's an opportunity for you to show us everything you know, which helps your teachers figure out how to best support you. Just like last week, the goal is to do your best and focus on each question.
Parents, make sure to help them do their best by making sure that they get sleep, eat breakfast, arrive to school on time, and have their Chromebooks charged every day.

Families, we’re asking for your help in learning more about how students feel during recess, lunch, and passing periods. Please take a few minutes to sit down with your child, ask them the short questions in this survey, and record their answers.
Through this tool, families can easily capture their student’s input by voice recording, video, or text—whatever works best for you.
Your child’s voice is important! The feedback we collect will help us make sure these parts of the school day feel safe, positive, and fun for every student.
Thank you for partnering with us to make school a safe and enjoyable place for all students! 💙

This week, we are thrilled to nominate our incredible day custodian, Jose Espinoza, for Hawk of the Week. Jose is a true rock star who consistently goes above and beyond to make our campus an amazing place for everyone.
Jose’s hard work and dedication are unmatched. He works tirelessly to keep our campus clean and safe, ensuring that both students and staff have a positive environment to learn and work in. What makes Jose truly special, though, is his unwavering willingness to help with anything and everything—whether it's stepping up for supervision or helping with event setups, he does it all with the most friendly and welcoming smile. He is genuinely adored by our students and staff alike.
This past week, Jose was nominated by multiple peers for his outstanding support during our Williams School Visit. He worked extra hard to fulfill every request, even coming in early to ensure our campus looked its absolute best. We couldn’t ask for a better teammate or a more deserving individual for this honor.
We are incredibly grateful for everything Jose does for our school. Thank you for your dedication and for being such a vital member of the Gavilan View team!
