Dear Gavilan View Community,
|
Dear Families,
Welcome to the second week of the new year! As we celebrate the MLK Holiday this Monday, we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of service and excellence. It is the perfect time to reflect and focus on the hard work of our students, especially as they complete the mid-year i-Ready diagnostic in reading and math. Their results will be a testament to the growth our Hawks have achieved so far this year!
Looking ahead, we invite you to join us for our School Site Council meeting this Tuesday, where we will be reviewing and approving our School Safety and Achievement plans. Your voice is vital as we refine the strategies that keep our campus secure and our academic standards high.
To keep this momentum going, we need your partnership in starting the third quarter on a strong note. Please help us prioritize consistent attendance, focused behavior, and academic dedication every single day. Together, we can ensure this remains a year of record-breaking success for every student!
Warmly,
Mrs. Antuna, Principal
Ms. Coronel, Assistant Principal

We are proud to name Mr. Chance Holzwart as our Hawk of the Week! Nominated by his peers for being a constant source of support, Mr. Holzwart is the "go-to" person on campus for questions regarding math and technology. He possesses a natural talent for breaking down complex information into easy-to-understand concepts—a skill that is not only appreciated by his colleagues but is also a cornerstone of his success in the classroom, as his students can heartily attest.
Beyond his expertise, Mr. Holzwart is incredibly generous with his time and resources. He goes above and beyond to foster a positive school culture by running the Good Job ticket program, rewarding our Hawks for their hard work and hosting the monthly raffles that students look forward to so much. His kindness extends to the staff as well; he frequently surprises his coworkers with snacks and treats, bringing a much-appreciated boost of morale to the Gavilan View team.
Mr. Holzwart’s dedication to student life continues long after the final bell rings. Whether he is on the strip as one of our outstanding fencing coaches or leading his newly launched D&D-style club, he provides students with unique spaces to grow and connect. His multifaceted contributions—from coaching to advising to technical support—make him a truly vital part of our school community. Congratulations, Mr. Holzwart!

Attendance is important! We’ve been working really hard to minimize tardies both in the morning and students showing up to their classes late. We need your help families!
- Please talk to your children about the importance of going to school every day and showing up on time for every class!
- This week, we started the week strong but had low attendance on Friday.
- Our average was 94.37% for the week.
- We had 40 students late in the morning at least one day this past week, 28 students with period tardies.
- Make sure you review the information below about Sick Days and knowing when to keep your students home sick and when it’s safe to send them to school.
We hope you’re all able to stay healthy throughout this flu season.

From Mrs. Gravem's class being activitists, trying to save marine life to the Monterey Bay Aquarium recruiting for their summer camps to student classroom activities, students had a great time getting back to school this week.
