Dear Gavilan View Community,
|
Dear Families,
We just wrapped up a fantastic week! Our School Site Council officially approved our Safety and Achievement plans, and our latest i-Ready diagnostics show incredible student growth in reading and math. We were also thrilled to host The Mindset Academy for high-energy assemblies to kick off our new motivation and resilience initiative.
This week is packed with school spirit, starting with our 100th Day of School on Monday! To celebrate this milestone, we’ll have a special math activity during lunch. We also invite you to cheer on our 7th and 8th-grade girls' basketball teams in their championship games on Monday, and join us Thursday for our Cafecito and ELAC meeting to stay connected with our school community.
As we close out January, let’s keep the momentum going by prioritizing attendance, behavior, and academics. Your partnership at home is the key to ensuring our Hawks finish the quarter strong. Thank you for your continued support!
Warmly,
Mrs. Antuna, Principal
Ms. Coronel, Assistant Principal

Student Expectations: Every week, students must attend Homework Center for at least 1 hour a week. They also have to have their teachers sign a weekly progress report every Friday and their 6th period teacher will collect the report.

We are incredibly proud to announce Ms. Susana Corona as our Hawk of the Week! As our dedicated Health Aide, Ms. Corona has faced an exceptionally demanding January, navigating a peak flu and cold season with grace and tireless energy. While the Health Office has seen a constant stream of students, she has managed the high volume with meticulous care, ensuring that every student health plan is updated and every parent is kept informed with timely medical updates.
Beyond her clinical duties, Ms. Corona has been a cornerstone of support for our entire school community. She consistently goes above and beyond her job description, frequently stepping in to assist the administration and front office teams whenever we are shorthanded. Her willingness to lend a helping hand—regardless of how busy her own desk is—demonstrates a "team-first" attitude that keeps our campus running smoothly and makes her an invaluable asset to our staff.
What truly sets Ms. Corona apart, however, is her immense heart and gentle spirit. She has become a trusted adult for countless students who seek out the Health Office not just for a bandage, but for the sense of peace she provides. Her office has transformed into a safe haven on campus, where her kind and unwavering care never falters. We are so lucky to have Ms. Corona watching over our Hawks; she truly embodies the compassion and dedication that define our school family.

Attendance is important! We’ve been working really hard to minimize tardies both in the morning and students showing up to their classes late. We need your help families!
- Please talk to your children about the importance of going to school every day and showing up on time for every class!
- This week, we started the week strong but had low attendance on Friday.
- Our average was 95.33% for the week.
- We had 46 students late in the morning at least one day this past week, 22 students with period tardies.
- Make sure you review the information below about Sick Days and knowing when to keep your students home sick and when it’s safe to send them to school.
We hope you’re all able to stay healthy throughout this flu season.
