A brand new school year is here, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome you to a new chapter at Gavilan View Middle School! Whether you are a returning Hawk or joining our family for the very first time, we are so glad you are here.

This year, we are taking our commitment to student success even further. We remain dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where every student feels they belong and is challenged to reach their highest potential.

1st day

First Day of School - Wednesday, August 5th

The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.



  • School starts at 8:15am every day.
  • School gates open at 7:30am.
  • The warning bell rings at 8:10am.

Regular Days - 8:15am to 3:10pm
Minimum Days - 8:15am to 1:15pm


  • Please note: The first day of school is a minimum day with dismissal at 1:15pm.

Student Schedules

Schedules were sent out in the Aeries Parent Portal on July 31st to all families who have completed the data confirmation process.

If you haven't received your schedule yet,
first period classes will be posted on the first day of school.

  • In first period, teachers will give students a copy of their schedule.

Important information about schedules:

  • There may have been changes from the one you received on July 31st.
  • We are NOT taking any schedule change requests for the first two weeks of school.

Back-to-School Data Confirmation

THANK YOU to all the families who have completed the data confirmation in Aeries. As of today, we've had 328 families complete it. We deeply appreciate you!

If you have yet completed the data confirmation, it's important that we verify all student information on file. Please take a few moments to log into your Aeries Parent Portal to complete the data confirmation process and acknowledge the Parent/Guardian & Student Handbook.

Bus Routes

If your child will be riding the school bus to and/or from school, please review the bus routes.



A reminder that all school rules apply on the bus.
We do not provide transportation to students on a inter-district or intra-district agreement.

School Supplies

As you prepare for the first day, we want to make sure that your student is coming prepared.

Students are required to bring the following supplies to school every day.
(Checked in 1st Periods Weekly)
  1. Sturdy 3-ring binder (at least 2”)
  2. 2 or more pencils (if mechanical, please have extra lead)
  3. 2 or more pens (Blue or black)
  4. 8 dividers for 3-ring binder
  5. Pencil Pouch
  6. 2 or more highlighters
  7. Binder Paper (college ruled)
  8. Reusable Water Bottle
  9. Headphones or Earbuds 
Please note: Some subjects may require additional supplies which will be communicated with students on the first day of school. 
 
Assignment Trackers will be given to students the first day by their 1st period teacher.
 
Other Suggested Supplies
  1. Ruler
  2. Index Cards (a set of 100 cards)
  3. Erasers ( 1 standard eraser or 2-3 pencil top erasers)
  4. Set of Markers or Colored Pencils (a set of 8 or 10)

Free Breakfast & Lunch

Every student receives free breakfast and lunch at Gavilan View!


  • Breakfast - Students can either eat breakfast before school or during our morning break. Before School, breakfast is served between 7:30am to 8:10am.
  • Lunch is provided to every student every day.
  • Menus can be found on our school website.

No Food Drop Off Policy!
We can no longer accommodate parents or guardians to bring lunches directly to the school for their children. This includes Door Dash, Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc.

Expanded Learning Opportunities

We do not have an after school program this year at Gavilan View. Here are the three options:

Homework Center: We will have a Wednesday After School Homework Center from 1:15pm to 3:15pm starting August 26th.

Off-Campus Option: Take advantage of our district's partnership with the Boys & Girls Club. See Flyer below. Transportation is provided.

Seasonal On-Campus Program Offerings: We will offer two sessions of a season on-campus after school enrichment program. See Flyer below for dates.

Sleep & Rest

As students transition from their summer schedules, we highly encourage them to establish new school routines that prioritize adequate sleep, ensuring they are well-rested and ready to learn.

Gavilan View Needs You

Give Back at Gavilan View!

Flexible roles, zero experience required—we provide all the training.



  • Morning Supervision: 2–5 days/week (7:30 AM – 8:15 AM)
  • Lunchtime Supervision: 2–5 days/week (12:30 PM – 1:10 PM | Minimum days: 12:45 PM – 1:15 PM)
  • Classroom & Subject Aides: Flexible hours! Help with small testing groups, classroom projects, or subject tutoring.
  • Multilingual Learner Support: Calling all bilingual family members! Help our teachers support multilingual students.
