Dear Gavilan View Families!
We had a fantastic week at Gavilan View! A huge thank you to our students and staff for making both our annual Williams Act Compliance Visit and our first bus safety drill of the year complete successes. Our campus is safe, well-equipped, and ready for a great month ahead.
Here is what’s happening at GVMS this week:

-
🏆 Fall Sports: Practices continue across campus as our student-athletes prepare for their upcoming games!

Get those outfits ready—Picture Day is tomorrow, Monday! All students will take their individual school photos in the Gym during their scheduled physical education (PE) class.
⚠️ Students must be in dress code in order to be pictured.
How to Order Photos:
- 💵 In-Person: Have your student bring their filled-out order envelope with cash or check directly to the photographer during their PE period.
- 💻 Online: Skip the paper envelope and order online at mylifetouch.com using our Gavilan View Picture ID Code: EVTF9BV69.
If your student is absent or misses their photo session tomorrow, don't worry! We will host a Picture Makeup Day later this fall and will share that confirmed date with families as soon as it is set.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes who made a fall sports team! Our team rosters have officially been finalized, and our Hawks are hard at work getting game-ready.
This week is dedicated entirely to team practices as our coaches and players prepare for official games, which kick off right after Labor Day!
- 📅 Practice Schedules: Specific daily schedules, locations, and updates can always be found on the Hawks Athletics page of our school website.
- ⚠️ Prompt Pick-Ups: Please ensure your student is picked up promptly at the end of their scheduled practice time, as our coaches have after-school commitments and need to supervise until all athletes are safely on their way home.

We want every Hawk to feel supported and set up for success! Our Homework Centers are open to all students who want extra tutoring, a quiet place to study, or reliable Wi-Fi access.
Understanding Homework Contracts:
To give targeted support to students who need it most, we are issuing digital Homework Contracts starting this week to students with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 or current D’s and F’s.
- 💡 Support, Not Punishment: Homework Contracts are not a penalty—they are a dedicated support system designed to build strong study habits, provide structured help, and raise student grades.
- 💻 Digital Contracts: All contracts are issued digitally! Please help us by ensuring your student has joined the Homework Center Google Classroom to track their attendance and progress.
- 📊 Monitor at Home via Aeries: We need your partnership! Please log in to the Aeries Parent Portal regularly with your student to check current grades and catch missing assignments early.
Encourage your student to drop in and take advantage of these free resources to stay on top of their goals!

Thank you for helping us fund our Hawks!

We are thrilled to honor our Academic Coach, Ginger Kelly, as our Hawk of the Week! Nominated by her peers for her generous spirit and constant willingness to lend a hand, Mrs. Kelly works tirelessly to ensure our staff and students have every resource they need to thrive. Whether she is stepping into a classroom to help a colleague configure grade books, troubleshoot technology, or offering instructional guidance, her supportive presence is felt daily across our campus. As one colleague shared, "She has been working so hard to ensure that everyone has everything they need."
Behind the scenes, Mrs. Kelly wears many hats to keep Gavilan View running smoothly. During our second week of school, she was instrumental in managing our Chromebook and textbook distribution so every Hawk was equipped for learning. She is currently working directly with our 6th-grade team to administer individual phonics assessments, ensuring our newest middle schoolers receive targeted reading support. Furthermore, she coordinates our Homework Contracts, connecting students who need an extra academic boost with structured support during our after-school Homework Center.
Mrs. Kelly is also a vital leader within our school community and an invaluable partner to our administrative team. She serves as our 6th-grade Grade-Level Lead, actively contributes to our Coordination of Services Team (COST) to support student holistically, and serves on our Safe School Committee to maintain a secure environment for all. Her dedication, expertise, and heart for service make Gavilan View a better place every single day. Thank you, Mrs. Kelly, for all that you do for our Hawks!
