We have a powerful week ahead as we partner together during Parent-Teacher Conference Week and approach the final stretch of our 1st Quarter! Please review the key reminders below to stay connected:
- 🤝 Parent-Teacher Conferences: We look forward to meeting with our families this week! Conference times run daily, with extended evening hours on Thursday, October 1st.
- ⏰ Minimum Days All Week: Students will be dismissed at 1:15 PM every day this week (Sept. 28 – Oct. 2). Please make arrangements for prompt pickup!
- 🍿⚽ Fundraisers Wrapping Up: Tuesday, September 29th, is the final day to turn in ASB Popcorn money, and our Fall Sports Vertical Raise campaign is coming to a close. Thank you for your amazing support!
- 📚 1st Quarter Deadline: The quarter officially ends on October 7th—let's work together to make sure every Hawk turns in missing work and finishes strong!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Please remember that every day this week is a Minimum Day for Parent-Teacher Conferences!

Student Dismissal: All students will be released at 1:15 PM daily.

Prompt Pickup: Please ensure transportation is arranged so your Hawk is picked up promptly at 1:15 PM each afternoon.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are a crucial opportunity to partner together to support your child’s academic progress as we end the 1st Quarter.
🤝 Scheduling Your Conference

Priority Appointments: Teachers are prioritizing conferences for students who currently have a D or F in any class. Your child's 1st Period teacher should have already reached out to schedule a time.

All Families Welcome: If your child is passing all of their classes, you are still very welcome to request a conference! We love connecting with all of our Hawk families.

- During lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday from 12:45pm to 1:10pm in Room 12
- After School on Wednesday from 1:15pm to 3:15pm in Room 1
There is no after school Homework Center on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Tuesday, September 29th (7:30 AM – 8:10 AM) is our FINAL turn-in morning for our ASB Popcorn Sale!

Goal: 1 bag per student! (It's the same popcorn sold at Disneyland, supporting ASB student activities!)

Prizes: Cool individual prizes and class incentives are available for students who turn in orders.

Payment: Please total all sales and include exact change. We accept cash or checks payable to GVMS.

A Special Milestone: This is our final fundraiser with Craig Carlson Fundraising before he retires after 40 years—let's make it our best one yet!

We are deeply honored to announce our School Social Worker, Andrea Perez, as our Hawk of the Week! Nominated by her peers for her unwavering dedication to the well-being of our campus, Ms. Perez serves as a vital pillar of care for our school community. As her nominators beautifully expressed, "Ms. Perez is a constant source of reassurance and support to students, staff, and families." As a proud Gavilan View alumna, her deep roots in this community shine through in everything she does as she gives back to the very place where her own journey began.
This school year alone, Ms. Perez has demonstrated exceptional skill and grace while managing critical, high-risk student situations. Navigating these delicate moments with profound compassion and care, she coordinates every layer of support—from connecting families with outside resources like the Mobile Crisis Team and leading sensitive family conversations, to creating individualized safety plans and ensuring each student's support team is fully equipped to help. Her steady, trauma-informed approach guarantees that no student or family ever has to navigate difficult times alone.
Beyond her crisis support, Ms. Perez is a vibrant heartbeat of our school culture. She regularly visits classrooms to deliver student presentations, collaborates with our library to host monthly Craft Labs where Hawks can build connections, and facilitates professional development for our staff. Families can also find her sharing valuable resources at school events and students can find her hosting bi-monthly tabling campaigns for awareness initiatives like Suicide Prevention and Bullying Prevention Month. Thank you, Ms. Perez, for your compassionate heart, your leadership, and your endless dedication to our GV family!
